Atlassian Team 25 Impressions - are we seeing the birth of a new Atlassian?

By 💫 Jimi Wikman ·
Atlassian Team '25 was held last week in Anaheim California and as always it was a massive marketing campaign designed to hype and increase sales.
00:00 - Like last year's event however there is more happening than just new features and new products. Atlassian is changing before our eyes and this year a lot of big changes occurred!
01:29 - Categorizing the Atlassian apps (products) is now happening, and we see a whole new ecosystem unfold. Atlassian is renaming their products to become apps, which is very confusing.
07:24 - A new packaging based on the new categorizing of the apps was presented, and they are called Collections. Two collections were announced: The Teamwork Collection with Jira, Confluence and Loom and 09:31 the Strategy collection with Align, Focus and the new app named Talent. It is an interesting choice as Align has been in a very awkward position before…
09:23 - Rovo is now the core of all products and Atlassian is making working with Rovo even easier with the new Rovo Studio. This is a shift from Jira towards Rovo and it is an interesting shift.
21:55 - New Cloud solutions are rolling out in the form of Government cloud and Isolated Cloud. Isolated cloud begs the question of where will this put the Atlassian Data Center platform, which was not mentioned at all.
26:52 - Customer Service Manager is a confusing product that is a bit unclear on what it is and how it fit with the rest of Jira Service Management. It looks like a Rovo Chat with some additional views, but it is unclear exactly what this is...

What in the Atlassian ecosystem and Community am I thankful for? (The Jira Life Special)

By 💫 Jimi Wikman ·
The good fellas over at The Jira Life asked if someone would like to send in a video of what we are thankful for when it comes to the Atlassian ecosystem and community, so this is my contribution to their request.

What is the difference between project and initiative, and why does it matter?

By 💫 Jimi Wikman ·
Many are using the term Project for bodies of work in both Operational budgets (OpEX) and in Investment budgets (CapEX) and this can have serious implications on how that work is being performed if used incorrectly.
In this video I go over the differences between what constitutes a project and what an initiative is. I also go over why this matters and what can happen if you use the terms incorrectly.

By 💫 Jimi Wikman ·
#waysofworking #antipattern #harmful There are many anti-patterns that can harm your organization and in this video we will go over three of them: The cult like following of frameworks, the customer first at all cost dogma and the team self-isolation plague.

Introduction to Release notes and Roadmaps for Jira from Released.so

By 💫 Jimi Wikman ·
Release notes and Roadmaps for Jira from Released.so is an app that will allow you to publish release notes and Jira tasks externally on a website or intranet. This is by far the smoothest and most useful app I have seen for publishing roadmaps and release notes externally. It is the perfect app for stakeholder communication outside the Atlassian products, and it comes with a number of amazing features!

Early Access Program for Assets reveal poor architecture on top of massive price increases.

By 💫 Jimi Wikman ·
In a recent article where Atlassian asks for users to participate in an Early Access Program to test a watered down version of Assets they admit to having issues with scaling and performance in the cloud version of Assets. In this rant I go over my thoughts on this article, the current status of Assets and the recent changes to pricing for Assets that will have you pay twice for using it. I am not impressed, or happy.

Introduction to Forms in Jira Service Management

By 💫 Jimi Wikman ·
Forms are amazing and with that you can create forms for your requests types with nearly unlimited number of questions. These questions you can manage yourself without needing help from System administrations, and you have full control over the text and values in your fields.
In this video, I show how you can create and build forms. I show how to create dynamic forms and how to attach them to request types, as well as how to make forms internal for your team only, or external, so the customers can see them in the portal.
