AI-suggested labels for work item creation

Save time and reduce repetitive tasks in Jira with AI-suggested labels. When you create a work item, Atlassian Intelligence analyzes your project's historical field-usage patterns to suggest contextually relevant label values. These suggestions help you capture work quickly and accurately while maintaining full control over your data.

  1. Select Create in the top navigation bar to open the create work item dialog.

  2. Select the Labels field to open the dropdown.

  3. Review the suggested values, which are highlighted with an AI attribution indicator.

  4. Select the checkmark icon to accept a suggestion or the X icon to dismiss it.

Key changes

  • Context-aware suggestions: Atlassian Intelligence uses your project's historical label usage patterns to infer the most likely values for the labels field.

  • Supported fields: Suggestions are currently available for the labels field. Additional fields will be supported in future releases.

  • Transparent AI attribution: All AI-generated suggestions are clearly marked, so you always know when a value is AI-suggested.

  • Full user control: Suggestions are never auto-applied. You can accept, dismiss, or ignore them and select values manually.

Privacy and data handling

  • Your data stays within your Atlassian instance and is never shared across organizations.

  • Suggestions are generated using models hosted on Atlassian's infrastructure. No third-party AI models are used.

  • All suggested values in analytics are SHA-hashed — raw label strings are never stored.
