Unsure how to handle ambiguity during sprint planning? In this video, we break down the concept of agile spikes — what they are, when to use them, and how to structure them so your team stays focused without going down rabbit holes.

We explore how to use epics as discovery drivers, why time-boxing investigations beats open-ended estimates, and how the Three Amigos framework (product owner, developer, and tester) ensures the right people are involved in requirement discovery. You'll also learn how to scope a spike effectively so engineers solve the right problem — not every problem.

Whether you're managing a product team or working within a project-based model, this conversation offers practical strategies for handling unknowns without derailing your sprint. We also cover when spikes add real value versus when they become just another arbitrary task in your backlog.

Key topics include spike workflows, epic status tracking, time-boxing requirements, backlog management, and the true cost of requirement discussions.

Perfect for Scrum Masters, Product Owners, Agile Coaches, and developers looking to sharpen their sprint planning process.

Checkout everything Jimi has going on https://jimiwikman.se/

My brutally honest opinion of the individual capacity planning announced for Jira

Security for API in the Atlassian Cloud is a very important thing and in a new article in the Atlassian Community we got several new updates on changes coming soon.

When creating an API key, admins can restrict access to only the necessary permissions. Adding scopes restricts access to only what is necessary, helping to reduce the scale of any potential security incidents.

This is an amazing addition that really can secure your API. Early Access Program: Service accounts: reduce admin overhead with service accounts by eliminating the need to maintain passwords, SSO, or 2FA for accounts that are only created to run scripts and integrations. Another amazing addition that really, really will save time and effort when setting up integrations!

In the article we also see more information on Orphaned API keys and Expiry of API and SCIM keys.

////////////////////////
Atlassian Community Article:
https://community.atlassian.com/forums/Trust-Security-articles/Improved-API-security-and-expanded-authentication-policy/ba-p/2996413#U2999880
////////////////////////

Atlassian Change the name for their products to apps and the community is confused!

At the Atlassian team '25 event last week several people took notice when Mike Cannon-Brooks, the founder of Atlassian continuously referred to the Atlassian products as apps.

As it turns out this was intentional and Atlassian has actually renamed their products to apps. As we already have apps in the form of marketplace apps, this begs the question: what is Atlassian thinking?

In an article in the Atlassian Community Atlassian is trying to explain this strange move, but I fail to understand the logic of having multiple things being named the same.

So in the future when someone refers to an app, then it can be a product like Jira, it can be a platform feature like Goals, it can be a marketplace plugin, or it can be an actual app like the mobile app for Jira.

Needless to say, this is causing some frustration and a whole lot of confusion.

The fact that this comes at the same time as the Issues are being renamed AND a completely new UI is rolling out is really not a good way to manage change.

Forum Discussion:

Atlassian Team 25 Impressions - are we seeing the birth of a new Atlassian?
