Spring Launch Unveils 20+ Resources to Help Transition Skills from the Classroom to the Workplace

      - Hi Folks,
There’s no question that moving from the classroom to applying SAFe in real-world environments can be daunting. That’s why our teams are always laser-focused on helping the community successfully make that transition with new enablement resources. But there’s also no question that continuous delivery of new content makes announcing cool new things a bit challenging. After all, we can’t announce new features every day as we don’t want to be flooding everyone’s Inbox.
That’s why we held yesterday’s Spring Launch event where we were joined by 6,700 virtual attendees. Over 20 new enablement resources were announced for Lean Portfolio Management, organizing around value, and Release Train Engineer facilitation. With new workshops, practice and facilitation guides, e-learning, collaboration templates, and focused community sections, the new offering represents a major effort that will ultimately help SAFe organizations achieve business agility and accelerate digital innovation.
Individuals and teams will love the ability to learn what they need at the moment they need it, and business leaders will appreciate knowing that their teams can consistently deliver on the needs of a dynamic business.
The new resources are available on the SAFe® Community Platform. Even if you were not able to attend yesterday’s event, for the next three months you can still view the presentations and learn about all the great features included in our 2022 Spring Launch.
      Stay SAFe,
      —Dean

Announcing new guidance for Big Data and DataOps in SAFe

      - Announcing new guidance for Big Data and DataOps in SAFe
Some of the largest enterprises in the Global 2000 rely on SAFe’s guidance to build the world’s most important systems. And these systems create lots of data. Each website click, turbine engine rotation, vehicle acceleration, and credit card transaction creates new information about products, consumers, and operating environments. Data has become critically important across the entire enterprise. It influences business decisions, helps create better products, improves the way products are developed, and drives operational efficiencies.
The rapid acceleration of information has led to new practices for storing, managing, and serving massive data collections. Organizations need a unifying approach to collecting, aggregating, governing, and delivering data products to address these challenges. DataOps is a collaborative data management activity across Agile teams, data practitioners, and enterprise stakeholders that leverages Lean-Agile and DevOps mindset, principles, and practices to deliver quality data products predictably and reliably.
/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Big_Data_F03_WEB.pngThe DataOps lifecycle The new advanced topic article Realizing Big Data with DataOps in SAFe describes the critical role data plays across the enterprise. It describes the DataOps process to collect and aggregate data from across the enterprise and provide purpose-built data products for data consumers. And it offers specific practices SAFe enterprises can use to begin and accelerate their Lean-Agile DataOps journey.
You can read the new article here.
      Happy reading, and stay SAFe!

Three creative ways SAFe is leveraged in the field: Porsche Digital, Fadata, and University of South Florida

      - Hi Folks,
We enjoy monitoring the news to see what our customers are up to with SAFe and recently we bumped into some articles that you might find inspiring:
      Turbo-boost collaboration with SAFe-friendly spaces
As many of us return to the office, we’re reminded how important it is to have physical spaces that support SAFe practices such as daily standups, team meetings, and PI Planning. Here’s a great example from Germany. Healthcare platform provider Fadata created SAFe-friendly spaces to increase and promote collaboration, boost creativity, and raise employee happiness. It’s a great article with lots of photos.
Break down mindset and practices in a way that helps business people
To achieve business agility with SAFe, the mindset, principles, and practices must extend beyond development to the business side of the enterprise. We see that trend growing with our customers, but we also know it’s not always easy to communicate the new way of working to the uninitiated. This article from Sarah Ouis and Robert Wegele of Porsche Digital does an excellent job of explaining how an agile approach can enhance the quality of teamwork within and between business and software engineering teams.
Accelerate innovation with SAFe—win a Gartner award!
The University of South Florida needed to rapidly develop an app for their Return to Campus/Campus Pass that included a daily symptom tracker. With the help of SAFe, they developed a strategy that leveraged hyperautomation and composable architecture, which meant building pieces of technology like LEGO blocks that could be rapidly assembled and re-assembled to create new solutions as demands changed. Due to the success of this strategy, they won the prestigious Gartner 2021 Eye on Innovation Award for Higher Education. Read all about it here. Enjoy!

Announcing the Release of the ‘Succeeding with Artificial Intelligence (AI) in SAFe’ Advanced Topic Article

scaledagileframework.com - Since its inception, the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) has been used to guide the adoption of Lean-Agile practices in almost every industry and for all types of solutions, from banking software to automobile manufacturing. Our goal has always been to keep SAFe technology-agnostic since the guidance we provide can be used to embrace a new way of working that leads to business agility in any context.
While this remains an essential underlying principle for the success patterns provided by SAFe, one rapidly emerging technology has the potential to fundamentally change every industry, driving transformational changes to the operating and business models for every SAFe enterprise. The implications of this innovation are so profound that we have decided this technology merits discussion in the Framework. That technology is Artificial Intelligence (AI).
      /wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Succeeding_with_AI_F02_WEB.png
AI is not just another technology innovation. Like the technological revolutions of the past three centuries described by Carlota Perez in her book Technological Revolutions and Financial Capital: The Dynamics of Bubbles and Golden Ages, AI has the potential to forever alter the business landscape in much the same way that the steam engine, electricity, and mass production did in previous revolutions. That’s because AI doesn’t just provide entirely new capabilities to a company’s products and services. For enterprises that fully embrace AI, it forever alters the organization’s DNA, creating what the authors of Competing in the Age of AI describe as a ‘digital firm.’
One of the biggest hurdles facing businesses making the transition from a traditional model to a digital model is the ability to pilot AI solutions and take them all the way from the experimental stages into full production. In fact, according to Gartner, only 3% of the Global 2000 have mastered what it takes to operationalize and scale their AI prototypes.  If only there were a knowledge base of successful practices for building complex solutions at scale! (smile)
The advanced topic article Succeeding with Artificial Intelligence (AI) in SAFe is our first step toward sharing what we have learned so far with the global community of SAFe leaders, change agents, and practitioners. It provides a basic primer on AI for those who might be new to the topic. More importantly, it highlights specific elements of SAFe practice that can be used to overcome some of the typical hurdles that organizations encounter as they attempt to move their AI investments beyond the prototype stage.
While this article provides a good initial overview of the synergies between AI solutions and SAFe practice, it is by no means the only guidance we plan to offer on this topic. Our research continues, and as we learn more, you can expect us to update and add to the initial discussion captured in this article.
We hope you enjoy Succeeding with Artificial Intelligence (AI) in SAFe, and we welcome your thoughts and comments on this rapidly evolving topic!

Driving Relentless Improvement: Reflections on the RTE Summit & a New Team and Technical Agility Assessment

scaledagileframework.com - It was a pleasure to attend the 6th Annual RTE Summit hosted by Scaled Agile Gold SPCT partners Gladwell Academy, held in Utrecht at the Railway Museum on the 8th – 9th November. As we all recognize, the RTE is critical to the success of the ART, and since its inception, the RTE Summit has been an important event for building and supporting those in this role. As I reflect on the event, the overwhelming experience was one of community. Almost everyone I spoke to was a practicing RTE, a Scrum Master aspiring to be an RTE or an RTE who recently moved into a broader change-agent role. This common thread created a powerful learning network with individuals and groups giving advice, providing insights, and sharing knowledge. I learned a huge amount during the two days.

Accelerating Time to Market with the Business Agility Value Stream

scaledagileframework.com - Each year as I prepare for our annual SAFe Summit, I pause a bit to think more deeply about the future of software and systems development, and how that will impact the evolution of SAFe. This year, I paid particular attention to a somewhat different source of information—specifically the financial markets—where I was looking to see what forward-thinking technology investments will likely alter the course of the industry.
