Tenet ( 2020 )
Armed with only one word - Tenet - and fighting for the survival of the entire world, the Protagonist journeys through a twilight world of international espionage on a mission that will unfold in something beyond real time.
I had hopes for this one, but sadly it turned out to be a messy time travel type of movie that tried a bit too hard to be unique.
The movie itself is confusing and even if the end have a predictable, yet satisfying story arch, it feels flat. I understand the attempt to make the movie illustrate the confusing aspects of time travel, but it was poorly executed to the point of being frustrating.
The whole "running time backwards" made no sense to me and the lack of any information on what is actually going on made me spend more time wondering who the main character was actually working for since it is vague to the point of non-existing.
The action is almost an afterthought and instead of moving the story forward it feels just like time to be filled. The pace is slow and dark, which combined with jumps and gaps in time make for a confusing and annoying viewing experience.
There are plot holes the size of Mars and so many loose strings, yet the movie end without any feeling that there need to be a second installment.
If you like time travel movies that is mostly erratic questions colored in, then this is something for you. If you hoped for an action movie with some time travel twists, then this is not it.
