  7. Mattias was one of the first people that believed in my potential. He gave me the opportunity to grow beyond my comfort zone to the person I am today. He did this by simply being an amazing leader and an even better person. To say that Mattias is social or that he pretty much know all there is to know about e-commerce is an understatement. Despite his high social competence and his extensive knowledge och technology and e-commerce it pales in comparison to his leadership skills. Mattias is what i call a natural leader. His leadership does not come from books or experience, it is simply a natural part of who he is. He is kind, respectful and always listen if you have something on your chest. Once he makes a decision, even if it's not one that you agree with, you feel that you have been heard and your opinion is respected. No matter if you meet Mattias at a conference, in a board meeting or at the coffee stand you will always meet the real Mattias. He will not play games or pretend in any way of form as he is always honest. That combined with his kind and generous heart that always want what is best for those around him it is not surprising that the company he started became a huge success. Mattias is one of the best leaders I have ever met and he is also one of the most kind and genuine person I know. He is the inspiration and the standard I strive for myself as a leader.
  8. When I worked at H&M as the Jira Process and Method expert Bharath was the onsite representative for the Jira team. It was clear for me from the first time we met that his talent was wasted in his current position. His potential is just amazing with a sharp mind, social skills that are just amazing and a skill set that put most people to shame. To say that I was blessed with his dedication to help me improve all things Jira at H&M would be an understatement. Bharath is hard working, respectful and display kindness and respect in all things he do. He is truly professional with a deep desire to help that makes him an invaluable and much appreciated team member. Bharath has the potential of greatness inside him. I see him shoulder responsibilities in the future where he can guide and help others to equal greatness. He already have the skill and knowledge to be a great developer and his knowledge of the Jira system is amazing as well. Bharath not only earned my respect as a professional, he earned my respect as an individual as the kind, brilliant and amazing person he is. He is very humble so if you ask him he will surely say I was the teacher when we worked together, but the truth is I learned so much from Bharath as well.   12. As I posted earlier I have been working on a section for people. It has been a fun experience to build this section and now I am ready to add this to the resources section. I have added a handful people that I think is amazing and I will continue doing this of course to present some of the most amazing people I know. Building this section was fun, but also quite educational as to how Pages from Invisioncommunity works. There are a few areas where it was a bit tricky to get the fields to work the way I wanted. For example I wanted the Personality types to be in a list, but I also wanted to link the types to a website where you can read more about them. This turned out to be easier than first expected, but it took some experimenting to figure out. The form for adding new people is still not very pretty, but I have not put any effort into changing that yet. Pages can have custom forms that you can assign to databases so I can make this much better in the future if I want. This is what I love about Pages and all other parts of the Invisioncommunity suite. It is so versatile and there is always new things to learn. So enjoy this new section on the site where I will continuously add amazing people. Some will have interviews and some will not, but you can rest assured that there will be new people added almost weekly. For me it bring in some of the most amazing people to my site and for the people I add I will do my very best to promote them and show the world what I see in them. As I know a lot of people this will be an endless work and I can not possibly add everyone I know due to time constraints. Me not adding you here does not mean I do not think you are amazing, only that time has not allowed me to add you here yet. I will add you as soon as time permits however, so please just be patient. Because you are amazing.
  13. You’ve probably heard that WordPress is open-source software, and may know that it’s created and run by volunteers. WordPress enthusiasts share many examples of how WordPress changed people’s lives for the better. This monthly series shares some of those lesser-known, amazing stories. Meet Jill Binder Jill Binder never meant to become an activist. She insists it was an accident. Despite that, Jill has led the Diversity Outreach Speaker Training working group in the WordPress Community team since 2017. This group is dedicated to increasing the number of women and other underrepresented groups who are stepping up to become speakers at WordPress Meetups, WordCamps, and events. Jill’s back story Internship Jill’s WordPress story begins in 2011, in Vancouver, Canada. Jill secured an internship for her college program, working on a higher education website that was built in WordPress. As a thank you, her practicum advisor bought Jill a ticket to WordCamp Vancouver 2011: Developer’s Edition. After that Jill began freelancing with WordPress as a Solopreneur. First steps in the WordPress community The following year her internship advisor, who had become a client, was creating the first ever BuddyCamp for BuddyPress. He asked Jill to be on his organizing team. At that event she also moderated a panel with Matt Mullenweg. Then, Jill was invited to be on the core organizing team for WordCamp Vancouver. Part of this role meant reviewing and selecting speakers. From 40 speaker applications the team had to pick only 14 to speak. The diversity challenge when selecting speakers For anyone who has organized a conference, you know that speaker selection is hard. Of the 40 applications, 7 were from women, and the lead organizer selected 6 of those to be included in the speaker line up. At this point Jill wasn’t aware that very few women apply to speak at tech conferences and suggested selection should be made on the best fit for the conference. The team shared that not only did they feel the pitches were good and fit the conference, but they also needed to be accepted or the Organizers would be criticized for a lack of diversity. Selecting women for fear of criticism is embarrassing to admit, but that’s how people felt in 2013. By the time the event happened, though, the number of women speakers dropped to 4. And with an additional track being added, the number of speakers overall was up to 28. Only 1 speaker in 7 was a woman (or 14%) and attendees did ask questions and even blogged about the lack of representation. What keeps women from applying? Later that year at WordCamp San Francisco—the biggest WordCamp at the time (before there was a WordCamp US)—Jill took the opportunity to chat with other organizers about her experience. She found out that many organizers had trouble getting enough women to present. Surprisingly Vancouver had a high number of women applicants in comparison to others, and the consensus was more would be accepted if only more would apply. Jill decided that she needed to know why this was happening? Why weren’t there more women applying? She started researching, reading, and talking to people. Though this issue is complex, two things came up over and over: “What would I talk about?” “I’m not an expert on anything. I don’t know enough about anything to give a talk on it.” A first workshop with encouraging results Then Jill had an idea. She brought up the issue at an event and someone suggested that they should get women together in a room and brainstorm speaker topics. So Jill became the lead of a small group creating a workshop in Vancouver. In one of the exercises, participants were invited to brainstorm ideas—this proved that they had literally a hundred topic ideas and the biggest problem then became picking just one! In the first discussion, Jill focussed on: Why it matters that women (added later: diverse groups) are in the front of the room The myths of what it takes to be the speaker at the front of the room (aka beating impostor syndrome) Different presentation formats, especially story-telling Finding and refining a topic Tips to become a better speaker Leveling up by speaking in front of the group throughout the afternoon Vancouver Workshop 2014Leading to workshops across North America and then the world Other cities across North America heard about the workshop and started hosting them, adding their own material. Many women who initially joined her workshop wanted help getting even better at public speaking. So Jill’s team added in some material created from the other cities and a bit more of their own. Such as: Coming up with a great title Writing a pitch that is more likely to get accepted Writing a bio Creating an outline At WordCamp Vancouver 2014—only one year since Jill started—there were 50% women speakers and 3 times the number of women applicants! Not only that, but this WordCamp was a Developer’s Edition, where it’s more challenging to find women developers in general, let alone those who will step up to speak. More work is needed! Impressive as those results were, the reason Jill is so passionate about this work is because of what happened next: Some of the women who attended the workshop stepped up to be leaders in the community and created new content for other women. A handful of others became WordCamp organizers. One year Vancouver had an almost all-female organizing team – 5 out of 6! It also influenced local businesses. One local business owner loved what one of the women speakers said so much that he hired her immediately. She was the first woman developer on the team, and soon after she became the Senior Developer. Diversity touches on many levels Jill has seen time and again what happens when different people speak at the front of the room. More people feel welcome in the community. The speakers and the new community members bring new ideas and new passions that help to make the technology we are creating more inclusive. And together we generate new ideas that benefit everyone. This workshop was so successful, with typical results of 40-60% women speakers at WordCamps, that the WordPress Global Community Team asked Jill to promote it and train it for women and all diverse groups around the world. In late 2017, Jill started leading the Diverse Speaker Training group (#wpdiversity). Dozens of community members across the world have now been trained to lead the workshop. With now dozens of workshops worldwide, for WordPress and other open source software projects as well, there is an increase in speaker diversity. WordCamp US 2019As a result of the success, Jill is now sponsored to continue the program. She’s proud of how the diversity represented on the stage adds value not only to the brand but also in the long-term will lead to the creation of a better product. She’s inspired by seeing the communities change as a result of the new voices and new ideas at the WordPress events.   17. Mauro is the best architect I have ever worked with. Period. Working with Mauro is a pleasure because you can always depend on him to be there to support you and the team. He is skilled like no other, especially when it comes to the Intershop platform that he know like the inside of his palm. Mauro will always listen to everyone and he will argue his point with respect and compassion. He will never loose his temper and he will always break things down to find the best possible solution. Mauro will always work hard and he have a talent for teaching others that goes beyond just having a ton of skill and experience. It comes from passion for his craft and for a deep understanding and respect for others that makes him the best at what he does. Working with Mauro was one of the best periods of my professional life and I would jump at the opportunity to work with him again. Mauro is the best architect I have ever worked with. Period.
  18. I started working as ERP-consultant in Italy back in 1992. I learned backend processes for both manufacturing and retail markets. 1999 I started working with web and e-commerce, mainly on the Intershop platform. From that time and onward I was assigned more and more complicated projects. I got more responsibilities by becoming first a team leader and by coordinating several teams. In search of bigger challenges in 2008 I moved to Sweden. In Sweden I started working as a system architect consultant, working with bigger e-commerce customers. I took more and more responsibilities in the internal management, becoming CTO at Brightstep. After the acquisition of Brightstep by Accenture, i worked as a partner manager for the partnership with Intershop, and worked with the role of Senior Architect for presales and End 2 End architect for Hennes & Mauritz. In September 2019 i joined Intershop with the role of technical and commercial representative in the Nordics and other areas.
  19. I have worked with Ornamo on several projects and I feel that he grow every day. Not only is Ornamo working hard without ever complaining over long work hours or overtime, he also absorb every bit of knowledge like a sponge. He is not afraid to take responsibility and step up when needed, but he always do so with great respect and a humble approach. Ornamo is the perfect team player that is never afraid to speak up when he see something he think can be improved, yet never do so in an offensive or disrespectful way. He will listen and provide his own point of view in a way that is respectful, yet firm. If the project need extra effort Ornamo is always there to go the extra distance and he will do so with a smile and positive attitude, even if he is dead tired. Ornamo has a great skill set already and he is continuously pushing himself do learn more things and improve himself. In many ways Ornamo is already one of the keystones in our company, even though he is still young. I foresee a great future for Ornamo and every project we work together on I consider myself lucky to have such a great co-worker by my side. I know I can always rely on Ornamo that he will not only do awesome work, but also that he will challenge and offer alternatives so every project will have the best possible outcome.

  21. I have had the great pleasure of working with Marko on several projects and I am always impressed with his technical abilities as well as his professional attitude. Marko have a great sense of humor and when working with him a smile is never far off, but he also have a great work ethic which means that he will always keep a professional attitude and work harder than most. Marko's technical knowledge is without par and he combine that knowledge with the ability to explain the advanced technical aspects of whatever system he is currently working on in such way that your own technical expertise does not matter. He will simply explain it to you in ways you understand. In a workplace with a multitude of the finest people you can ever work with, Marko still shine like a beacon of knowledge, skill and a good laughter when needed. I simply cannot give Marko enough praise because he is an outstanding co-worker and an amazing human being with a big heart and good spirit.
