Head of Claremont Enterprice Commerce (part of Claremont AB).
      - E-Commerce
      - Marketing

I have 20 years’ experience from IT and more than 10 years’ experience from managing positions.
My experience range from sales, leadership, strategy and business development. Over the last 10 years I have been responsible for companies and divisions with up to an annual turnover of more than 100 million SEK and the recruitment of more than 100 people.
Wherever I work and whatever I do, I bring a positive, enthusiastic and we-can-do-this attitude.

    Products I master

These are some products I master. I am well experienced and consider myself skilled in using these tools in a professional capcity.

Mikael Jonsson is CEO of Claremont Enterprise Commerce (CEC). I met Mikael over a nice lunch at Koh Phagnan on Östermalm which later went on a long walk out to Gärdet. During our 90+ minutes we talked about many things and what is presented here is only a small taste of the warm and interesting conversation that Mikael shared.

Mikael, tell us a little about your company and what you do?

Claremont Enterprise Commerce helps our customers run their businesses in digital channels. Of course, this is often about e-commerce and we work with both B2C and B2B. Technically, we focus on the e-commerce platforms SAP Hybris and Magento.

We also help our customers make the changes that are often required when moving all or part of their business to the web. Organizational as well as process changes may be required. In addition, we are very good at method and management around this type of project.

At Claremont, every employee is trained and we learn about DISC as a step to understanding each other and the outside world a little better. Based on DISC, what is your disposition?

I have the outline IS / ID.

Where were you born and raised?

I was born in Stockholm and grew up in Östersund.

I went to school in Östersund, but moved to Stockholm after high school. I joined the System Knowledge program but was tired of school. Did military service in Östersund as an off-road truck driver (truck) where I drove around with a large haubits (cannon).

After military service, I returned to Stockholm and completed my studies.

What do you do when you are not working?

I love running and skiing. Are coaches in floorball, but have started to step down a bit. Have a mountain cottage outside Östersund, in Bydalen where me and my co-workers gladly take a trip to enjoy the tranquility.

Tell us something no one knows about you?

I went through a difficult divorce in 2012. It came to me unexpectedly and it was a difficult time for everyone involved. During that period, I learned a lot about myself and even though it was a hard time, I want to think that it made me a better person just because I was forced to research myself, understand what is important in life and gradually notice that "I can do this".

If you had the opportunity to do just about anything, what would it be?

I would probably work with young people. There is something rewarding about being able to make a difference in a time when many young people need a little support, advice and maybe just someone who listens to them.

What is the biggest challenge for you as manager at Claremont?

The challenges in such a fast-growing and ambitious company are always many, but for me 2017 meant that a new company and a partially new business would be established. Then it becomes extra important to anchor a clear vision so that everyone can contribute to us approaching it.

Then it should be said that it is easier to be a manager in our organization than what I have experienced before as there is an incredible team spirit at all levels where you help each other in all situations.

If you get to choose which superhero would best represent you?

I think spiderman suits me. He is kind and nice, even against the villains he fights to help others.

Choose a person you feel you would like to ask a question to. Who would it be and what would the question be?

I would like to ask the following questions to my daughters (11 and 15) in 20 years: What grade do I get?

With that, I thank Mikael for a nice chat and hope for more conversations in the future. The area E-commerce is an area that I am very passionate about, so I like to discuss it gladly and often.

If you want to know more about someone or want to sign up for this series yourself, please leave a comment and I will see what I can do. If you want to get in touch with Mikael you can contact him via Linkedin or Claremont's contact pages as well as directly here on the site.

Mikael is one of those leaders that have the gift of leadership naturally, long experience in leadership and also is well educated in all things related to leadership.

As a person Mikael is calm, thoughtful and diplomatic. He is an excellent listener with great empathic ability. This makes Mikael one of the best leaders I have ever met.

Mindful leadership is an approach in which you consciously cultivate your ability to be present, open-minded, and compassionate when interacting with team members – and you show the same consideration to yourself. Mindful leaders don’t need to motivate through fear or manipulation because their people are self-motivated.  By cultivating self mastery, mindful leaders are able to navigate stressful situations with calm and clarity.

Leadership styles, just like everything else, evolve over time.

According to a McKinsey survey, the pandemic accelerated the adoption of digital technologies globally by several years, pushing companies to migrate to the cloud, adopt distributed work models, and digitize their offerings. While ultimately positive, these changes were largely reactive. In order to shift their processes, many companies pressed pause on initiatives to drive innovation and instead focused solely on keeping the lights on in their businesses. For some, it was just the decision they needed to survive the economic squeeze of the pandemic. For others, it was the wrong choice – allowing competitors to gain critical headway.
It’s never easy to choose between managing change or driving innovation within your organization. But with more changes on the horizon and rising competition promising stormy weather ahead, companies will increasingly have to make that same difficult choice. Here’s how you can plan your innovation journey – even when you can’t predict the weather.
