On friday the 19th Rutger Hauer, one of my favorite actors in my youth, passed away after a short illness. He was buried yesterday and is mourned not just by family and friends, but also by thousands of fans all over the world.
Quote"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die."
Although Blade Runner is among his more famous roles, I remember him from many, many other movies. Each had it's own impact on me growing up, like the romantic Lady Hawk or the horror of the Hitcher. The hilarious Split second and Blind fury that still make me laugh.
His work will live on in the hearts and minds of those of us he touched through the magic of the silver screen. While those moments will eventually be lost in time, just like tears in rain, the impact will always remain.
Rest in peace Rutger Hauer and thank you for all the magic you brought us.
